DFX Annual end of year Show
At the end of the year Dance Effects puts on a fantastic show at the Claudelands Globox Arena. Students perform for family and friends. There are 3 performances, ACT 1 & 2 (All exam classes, and open classes that are not in the ACT 3 show) are the same show performed twice, Saturday evening and Sunday afternoon. ACT 3 (DFX Dance 3&4yrs plus Beginner & junior open classes, ballet/jazz/Hip hop 5-7 & 8-11yrs) is one show Sunday morning.
Each class learns a dance which fits into the theme of the concert; the students learn the dance in class after exams in term 3 and polish it in term 4.
Each student purchases a costume for the class they are in, students are required to supply and wear make up for the performances.
Students must attend all lessons as teachers need to sort out and perfect the routine and formations.
We have a dress rehearsal (in costume) on Saturday and Sunday the weekend before the performances at the Studio and the week leading up to the concert we have practices Monday-Thursday at the Studio running through the show. The weekend of the concert we have a full dress rehearsal (costume & make up) on Friday & Saturday.
Each junior class needs parent helpers to stay with them in the dressing room and keep them occupied.
Family and friends can buy tickets from ‘Ticketek’ to watch the fantastic performance!
As a parent please make sure your child attends all lessons and all rehearsals, pays the costume fee, and reads all notices regarding times and extra rehearsals for the concert.
We have a professional photographer and professional videographer come and take photos and video the show. Photos are usually ready to order 3-4 weeks the concert, the recording of the show is sent to all families involved within 3 weeks after the show.
This is a very exciting part of the year for students, teachers and parents involved, which obviously requires a lot of hard work and time behind the scenes. If you are able and willing to help out before the concert or on the concert weekends please offer your help.
