Emily Marama Te Ahuru – Studio Owner/Principal

Miss Emily is the wonderful new leader of our fabulous team here at DFX. Emily started dancing at DFX at 4yrs old and as she aged added more genres to her repertoire. Throughout her time as a dancer, she was taking all genres available at DFX, AJDA Jazz, Tap & Contemporary, BBO Ballet, RBM Hip Hop, Acrobatic Arts and Musical Theatre.

Emily has completed all 16 levels of the AJDA Jazz syllabus and received the top mark in her level in New Zealand 5 times. She has also received top marks in Hip Hop exams and in Tap exams.

For 8yrs Emily was a competitive dancer and for the last few years has been a choreographer for troupes and solo/duo competitors. Emily attended PACANZ Nationals both as a soloist and with troupes as a dancer and as a choreographer.

Miss Emily began her teaching career when she was 14 as an Assistant teacher and was teaching her own classes the following year. She is Acrobatic Arts and PBT certified and continues to upskill at every opportunity in all genres and technical dance training. Her many years of training and sitting exams in Jazz, Ballet, Contemporary, Tap, Acro and Hip Hop have well prepared her to be able to offer a wealth of knowledge to her students.

Towards the end of 2023 Miss Emily was offered the chance to purchase the DFX studio from Louise ten Hove, much the same as Louise was offered 23yrs ago. Emily knew this was a dream come true for her and the rest is history. Along with Louise at her side mentoring we are all very excited to be a part of this next chapter in the DFX story.
